Volkswagen’s electric van ID Buzz goes on sale in Europe

Carsten Intra, one of the top executives of the German automotive giant Volkswagen, announced that the company’s all-electric minibus will be launched in Europe in 2022.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Manager Carsten Intra shared details of plans to launch the fully electric ID Buzz van.

Intra said the minibus will be showcased in Europe next year. In this region, it will be offered in standard and extended versions as well as passenger and commercial versions. In the United States, the van will be launched in 2023, where it is planned to be offered only in a passenger version with an expanded base.

There will also be an autonomous version

The ID Buzz will have three versions of the battery capacity. The base model will be equipped with a rear-wheel drive system and its electric motor will have 200 horsepower. The most expensive modification will be all-wheel drive and will produce 300 horsepower

The commercial version of the ID Buzz is planned to be offered in Europe as a fully autonomous vehicle with an advanced autopilot system, among other features. However, this option will be available a little later than normal models. It is also among the news that ID Buzz production will take place in Hanover. Various electric crossover models of the Volkswagen group will also be produced at this factory. The price of Volkswagen’s Electric minibus is not yet clear.
