Software giant Microsoft introduced the highly anticipated next-generation Windows at its event today. Here are all the details about Windows 11.

The expected day has come… Software giant Microsoft has officially introduced the new generation Windows at its digital event today. Windows 11 stands out as the most important update of the popular desktop operating system in the last decade . It  is also worth noting that it is the first operating system version released under the leadership of Panos Panay . As you know, Panay serves as the manager responsible for Windows devices, especially Surface.

New Start Menu and Taskbar

Microsoft has once again updated the Start menu in the next generation Windows . With Windows 11, the Start icon becomes colored and moved to the middle of the taskbar in macOS style along with the application icons .

The overhauled Start menu has become simpler . It got a new design and got rid of live tiles . Instead, there are now pinned apps and personalized recommendations. The new Start menu development process appears to have been moved from Windows 10X to Windows 11.

Smoother Animations

In Windows 11, animations have been updated to look smoother and feel more natural. You will especially feel this change when you click on the Start menu or minimize and close windows. Animations look more fluid than we see on mobile operating systems .

Windows and File Explorer

In Windows 11 , the appearance of windows has changed a bit. The corners are now slightly rounded . In addition, the company has also made up File Explorer in the new version . The icons for the Recycle Bin, Disk Drives, Documents, Desktop, Downloads, Music, Pictures and Videos folders have been refreshed.

Boot Screen and Sounds

The boot screen and startup sound have also been refreshed in the next generation Windows . The login animation has changed, while the Windows logo has become flatter. Many system sounds have been replaced with new ones , including critical error notification

Widget Support is Back

The Windows 11 operating system offers a feature that we are used to seeing on Android and iOS platforms. The widget option is back in the OS. Widgets that were previously introduced in Windows Vista were removed from the operating system for an unknown reason.

Windows Widgets further developed has been integrated in such a way. Users will be able to customize the desktop with their own widgets, as well as  download and use those created by third-party developers.

Android apps are coming to Windows

During the presentation, Microsoft officially announced that Windows 11 will support Android apps. Applications will open in a separate window , just as they do on smartphones and tablets. An easy transition is also promised for developers. They will only need to integrate an API . All apps will be available for download from the redesigned Microsoft Store .

Will Windows 11 Be Free?

Microsoft offered the Windows 10 operating system , which it released in 2015, as a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users. The company is following the same path for Windows 11 . Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 users will be able to upgrade to Windows 11 for free via Windows Update .
