Hungary will be the first country in the world to erect a statue of the mysterious creator of Bitcoin
Hungary will be the first country in the world to erect a statue of the mysterious creator of Bitcoin. Initial design plans emerged as a hooded figure referring to both the unknown creator and the “internet people”.
The new statue is particularly exciting because Satoshi Nakamoto, considered the founder of Bitcoin, never revealed his identity. Many believe that he is a group of people rather than an individual, and that his name is a nickname. Designed by two sculptors, Réka Gergely and Tamás Gilly, the bronze bust will depict a hooded figure. Thus, reference will be made to both the mysterious creator and the “people of the internet”.
Also, although the statue will have a face, it will be a reflective surface where everyone can see their own reflection when standing in front of it. This reinforces the idea that “we are all Satoshi”. András Györfi, who initiated the project, also believes that it is not Nakamoto’s identity that matters. According to Györfi, the unknown hero has opened a new page in internet history. But what really makes the world a better place is the blockchain technology behind Bitcoin.
The project is funded by four organizations: Mr. Coin, Crypto Academy, Blockchain Hungarian Association and Blockchain Budapest. The new bust will be erected in Graphisoft Park in the 3rd district of Budapest.
