NVIDIA GeForce 470.05 beta driver eliminated Ethereum mining protection on RTX 3060 graphics cards.
NVIDIA is almost squeezed in its own feet with the current beta driver it has published. The company imposed a limitation on its product so that it could not be mining Ethereum with RTX 3060 graphics cards. In this way, mining performance was reduced by 50 percent. On the other hand, this could not stop the miners and the protection was exceeded without the need to modify the driver or BIOS. Now it has been noticed that the GeForce 470.05 beta driver automatically unlocks Ethereum mining on RTX 3060 models.
According to ComputerBase, the 470.05 driver is designed for developers to test the performance of the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and new features such as OpenCL 3.0 support, but of course, Ethereum mining performance is not intended to be unlocked. We can guess that surpassing the Ethereum mining performance with the beta driver will make the cards more attractive to crypto miners.
NVIDIA seemed pretty confident of software restrictions on RTX 3060 mining performance. In fact, NVIDIA Communications Manager Bryan Del Rizzo shared last month that it’s not just a driver issue, but a safe feature that prevents the hash rate limiter from being removed between the RTX 3060 processor and the BIOS software.
Let’s see how NVIDIA will fix the flaw it has given with this beta driver.
