Tesla CEO Elon Musk joked about Tesla cars creating Dogecoin (DOGE) when they saw Shiba Inu dogs
Tesla CEO Elon Musk joked about Tesla brand cars creating Dogecoin (DOGE) when they saw Shiba Inu dogs.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk came up with a ridiculous Dogecoin feature for the company. In a recent tweet, Musk jokingly suggested that if a car saw a Shiba Inu dog on the street, he could convert the meme into cryptocurrency . While some tried to understand whether Musk was re-emphasizing his support for DOGE, others argued that a Tesla could start mining the cryptocurrency.
The idea may seem frivolous, but Spiritus, a three-wheeled vehicle designed by Tesla’s Canadian rival Daymak, has already started mining Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Ethereum with a prototype that will appeal to the cryptocurrency community .
There’s a fine line between jokes and truth when it comes to Musk’s Twitter profile. On April 1, the billionaire tweeted that SpaceX will send Dogecoin to the Moon; this was considered a ridiculous promise, which was perceived as a joke, even by most Musk fans. But it later emerged that DOGE-1 will indeed be launched by SpaceX in 2022.
In late May, Musk also supported the idea of creating a hot tub to be powered by Dogecoin mining.
Some of Musk’s followers also began to pressure him to pay Dogecoin. On May 11, the entrepreneur asked Twitter users if they wanted Tesla to accept the cryptocurrency. The “Yes” option came to the fore in the survey overwhelmingly. But Tesla remains silent about adding DOGE as a new payment option after giving up Bitcoin in mid-May due to environmental concerns .
