Bitcoin seems to be winning the moon race.
Crypto currency derivatives exchange bitmex, Bitcoin in the fourth quarter of the Pittsburgh-based Astrobotic Technology has announced it will send to the moon really. The company will print a physical cryptocurrency with a tamper-proof hologram that will cover a Bitcoin address containing 1 BTC ($36,400 at press time).
The coin will display the Bitcoin price at the time of creation , BitMEX’s logo and the name of the task.
BitMEX CEO Alex Höptner says it’s “extremely exciting” to be a part of Astrobotic’s future Moon landing:
“My day job is to help explore the potential of cryptocurrencies beyond fiat currencies, so it’s extremely exciting to be a part of the project to explore the existence of space beyond earth. We will do this for all Bitcoin conversations going to the Moon. We couldn’t be happier to support Astrobotic’s initiative to put the commercial lander on the Moon.”
In the meantime, it’s worth noting that SpaceX will send Dogecoin to the Moon in 2022, meaning Bitcoin will get there before DOGE.
