AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution will soon rival Nvidia DLSS technology, and the company wants the project to reach even wider audiences with its open source concept.
As it is known, DLSS technology is an important advantage in Nvidia graphics cards . DLSS technology increases the quality and protects the performance by performing corner smoothing and high resolution operations on Tensor cores. AMD also announced its rival technology at the Computex 2021 fair.
What does AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution offer?
AMD, which has been working on DLSS competitor technology for a long time and providing information from time to time, made the official announcement this week. AMD FSR technology uses a sophisticated sampling algorithm to improve gaming performance without loss of image quality.
Although AMD does not provide technical details, it states that it benefits from open source GPUOpen technologies and states that it will make it available in the near future. Thus, it will be possible to use it even on Nvidia cards.
FSR technology works under 4 settings. The Ultra Quality setting provides 59 percent, the Quality setting by 102 percent, the Balanced setting by 153 percent, and the Performance setting by 206 percent. It is stated that in the tests of the RX 6800 XT graphics card with Godfall, very successful results were obtained with ray tracing open.
AMD has not yet named a game and announced that they are working with around 10 game studios. As of June 22, AMD will provide technical details and share the details of the project on the GPUOpen platform. The game list is also expected to be announced on this date.
